Wireless Access Achieves UL 294 Certification

Recognition Source’s Wireless Access receives Underwriters Laboratories listing for access control system units.

ST. CHARLES, IL (January 24, 2002) – Schlage Wireless Access announced today that its flagship Wireless Access products, the Integrated Reader Lock (IRL) and Panel Interface Module (PIM), received Underwriters Laboratories, Inc. listing as an accessory under Access Control System Units (UL 294).

The Integrated Reader Lock and Panel Interface Module have the potential to revolutionize the access control industry with their ease of use and speed of installation.  The first wireless door hardware solution, the IRL combines the reader, lock, power supply, door position contacts and an optional request-to-exit sensor into one integrated unit.  It is available with PROX, magstripe or Wiegand readers.  The PIM securely and reliably communicates between the access control panel and the IRL using hard wire connections to the panel and wireless RF spread spectrum technology to the door.  These devices cut the access control system’s installation time by up to 80%.  Access control can actually be installed on a door in less than one hour.
